Are you looking for a cute way to carry your belongings? Or are you trying to find a great gift for your child, teen or fun-loving adult?  Well, look no further.  Adorable and Unique! This owl backpack is sure to get noticed. It is constructed by the Hmong people of Northern Thailand using a patchwork design to create the illusion of feathers. Features a zippered pouch on the back as well as a large compartment that fastens with a velcro closure on the front under the eyes. The straps are adjustable cotton fabric. Measures approximately 10″x14″. As these backpacks are handcrafted there will be variability in the fabrics. No two bags are alike. This will truly be a one of a kind gift for someone special!

    Space…An Infinite Frontier

Recently a new icy planet currently named, 2012 VP113, has been discovered on the outermost borders of our solar system.  Its orbit around the sun is so large that it has evaded detection for decades.  In fact, astronomers theorize there could be as many as one hundred other planets the same distance from the sun, but have yet to be seen by the human eye.  Currently there are eight planets, unless you include Pluto, something my son vehemently does, but there is still so much waiting to be discovered.

If you are interested in astronomy like I am then you would love our Mova Globes. In particular, our Venus Mova Globe captures the amazing and splendorous forms the planets of our solar system can embody. Take a few minutes to browse our selection of globes – you will not be disappointed!

    Secret Spaces and Hiding Places

    No comments yet

Up until he became a teen, my son would always like to hide his belongings somewhere where only he would be able to find them again.  His systems for hiding his ‘treasure’ were often elaborate and complex.  For example, he would memorize a code that would open a box that would then lead to the location of a second box with a key to lead finally to the “safe place.” One of his favorite birthday presents was actually a small safe with a combination lock. Anything with secret compartments or hidden drawers were especially treasured. As soon as I saw our beautifully hand carved jewelry box from India I immediately thought of my son.  This intricately crafted piece of art only opens when you slide the bottom third of the front portion of the box to the right.  Opening it can become a great party game as people struggle to find out how to open it.  This can even be a great place to store your jewelry. Get your own secret treasure box at www.lifehearthome.com!
