Peru was home to the Incan Empire, and still currently houses many natural and man-made wonders such as Machu Picchu and the Nazca Lines. LifeHeartHome proudly sells amazing hand-carved wooden fair trade products from Peru. Our wooden sculptures come from one artist, John Barrow, who creates each work of art himself. The artist uses ishpingo, cedar and mahogany wood to create the illusion of a jigsaw puzzle and then used all natural dyes to create the beautiful puzzle effect. The many colors to make up this gorgeous sculpture are as vibrant as the colors that make up our lives. The tree often symbolizes the family. Deep roots serve to strengthen and support the tree as do the connections with our families create our foundation. The branches symbolize relationships throughout our lives. This gorgeous tree will become a treasured work of art to be handed down through the generations.
Learn about the artist: John BarrowJohn Barrow was born in London on September 22, 1934. After studying Engineering he traveled to Peru, in 1969, to work at a paper mill. His original contract was for eight weeks, but John ended up staying in Peru permanently.John has always enjoyed woodwork; he learned the craft from his father, who was a carpenter. Carving became one of John’s favorite pastimes, a spare-time hobby.”Living in Peru allowed me to get to know a variety of beautiful wood types. When I found time I would carve various furniture pieces,” John explains. “When I retired, I was finally able to dedicate myself completely to my passion, carving!””I love to make all sorts of things. I am a perfectionist, so I prefer to look for the perfect wood type and take great care with each detail. I want to make something that is different than what you might usually see, so I have designed my own machines and tools to help me work wood in a different way.”

We all have experienced it at least once. That day when everything seems to go wrong. When your mood is about as dark as a winter’s gloomiest day. But as you move about your day, someone, possibly even a stranger, gives you a compliment or takes the time to offer you a genuine smile and all of a sudden the world seems a bit brighter. It doesn’t take much, even a whisper can change your whole outlook. This is the whole philosophy behind our Whisper of Kindness Cards. These little cards go a long way to spread a little kindness or a smile that may be the ripple that begins a Kindness Revolution!
Our original set includes 20 cards (two of each design). Each design is created with the focus on spreading a little sunshine into someone’s life. Whether you want to spread some happiness to your waitress who was especially attentive; your doctor who just went out of his/her way to treat you as if you were his/her only patient; the veteran who you would like to thank for his sacrifice and service – these cards are a simple way to start a chain reaction of kindness.
We are pleased to introduce our latest collection of Whisper of Kindness cards! This add-on set includes 10 cards (two of each design) and features dynamic and colorful designs and meaningful quotes or sayings. It is a great addition to the original pack of 20 cards. We look forward to adding new packs of cards every few months!
These little interactions often have a more profound impact on your life and others than one might think. I am a firm believer in letting your appreciation of others be heard. That is why we sell these Whisper of Kindness cards, which are a perfect way to let someone you know or even a complete stranger know how much you appreciate them. There is no such thing as showing too much appreciation for someone who has brightened your day. Remember even a whisper can turn someone’s day around.

Namaste is roughly translated as “The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you.” This greeting has become part of popular culture and has been worldly accepted as a sign of peace. This unique Kate Mesta design highlights this wonderful sentiment with a beautiful floral background. Get in on this popular trend by purchasing one of these unique pieces of wearable art. These dogtag necklaces are very popular and are worn by many celebrities.
Do you like the idea of one of a kind jewelry for any occasion? Are you looking for something different that is on the cutting edge of fashion? Look no further. We are excited to be able to bring to you the amazing jewelry of Kate Mesta! Kate Mesta is famous for creating one of a kind, wearable art. She creates all of her jewelry in her studio in Laguna Beach, California and her work has been featured at many celebrity events. She has even created a special “Dancing with the Stars” line. Her jewelry takes the typical dogtag necklace idea and spins it around to make truly one of a kind artwork that you can wear. Each necklace or cuff bracelet is made one at a time by hand so no two are exactly alike. Her jewelry has been worn by such celebrities as Selena Gomez, Ellen Degeneres, Dick Van Dyke and Sharon Osbourne to name a few. Owning a piece of Kate Mesta jewelry is like owning a piece of art that you can wear!
I know it is really just the beginning of summer but if you go into Target, Walmart or any other big store you will find that they are already putting out their “Back to School” collections! I guess you really do have to shop a season ahead to get items for the coming months. Shopping for summer clothes in February and for Halloween supplies in August is the new norm. As they say, time flies while you are having fun and the summer months usually provide long sunny days of fun. So even if we don’t like the fact, the season for preparing for school is fast approaching. Get a head start on your back-to-school shopping here at LifeHeartHome.com. We have some amazing options to choose from and for any age. For example, we have our hand-made Hmong backpacks, including the wildly popular owl design. Our wide range of backpacks are perfect for a summer stroll or a trip to the beach.
Also don’t forget about those about to enter or go back to college. What more would any college student need than a Guatemalan hacky sack ball or cool zipper pull to show their eclectic style. Really you cannot go wrong looking into LifeHeartHome’s back-to-school collection. Keep in mind, Murphy’s Law loosely states, “anything that can go wrong will likely go wrong.” Therefore, be prepared and help your children be prepared for the challenges that may await them at school. Enjoy your last month of summer, but don’t let school season creep up on you.
We have all seen them… a small group of kids or young adults standing around in a circle trying to keep a little ball in the air without using their hands. These groups can be seen on college campuses everywhere. Cooperative kicking games have ancient origins in almost every country from China to Native America. Super popular in the 80’s, Hacky Sack or Footbag is a modern American version invented in 1972 by John Stalberger and Mike Marshall of Oregon City, Oregon. Marshall had created a hand-made bean bag, that he was kicking around. Stalberger was recovering from knee surgery and was looking for a fun way to exercise his knees. This is how the traditional American game of Hacky Sack was born. I have been informed that the expert hacky sack player will take some of the filling out of the ball so that the Hacky Sack will actually land on the top of the foot without falling off. There are as many techniques to the game as there are patterns to the balls! The size and vibrant colors and patterns of these balls also make them perfect for hand strengthening exercises and physical therapy. However you choose to use your Hacky Sack ball, you will be delighted by the quality and whimsy of these beautiful Guatemalan creations.
